The Tyler School of Art

Hey all. I had a nostalgic moment today that made me miss my days as a Graduate student at the now defunct campus of Temple University's Tyler School of Art in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania. The one thing that I did not like very much about the campus was the fact that they made very unappealing t-shirts. You would think that some of the graphic design students would have been able to put together a nice logo design or something. This was my attempt at playing with some text in Adobe Photoshop.

Pen and ink drawings...

Hey peoples. With the school year starting tomorrow, it looks like the frequency of my postings will take a hit. So here is a moderate size sketch dump for you people who like using reference photos. Hope you like.

More portraits of yours truly!

Hey folks. A few weeks back, I bribed my niece (3 years old) and my nephew (9 years old) to draw a portrait of me with Crayola markers. Here are the results.

Obviously I need to work out. The little body is embarrassing.

In case you were wondering, I'm the one on the right.

Digital Self-Portraits

Howdy y'all. Here are a few self-portraits that I did in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator a few years back. Hope you like.

Residents of Prospect Park Zoo

Hey all. Here are a few pen drawings I did while I was at the Gecko exhibit at the Brooklyn's Prospect Park Zoo. If you happen to visit, definitely take a look at the meerkats and poisonous dart frog exhibits. I also suggest that you do not leave the park until you have seen the wonderful watercolor illustrations done by Deborah Ross.

Portraits!

Hey all. As promised, here are some of the heads that I've drawn this past week. Some are better than others and you might even recognize a couple. Maybe.

Tyler School of Art

Hey all. I happened to come across some images that I had previously used on my now defunct web pages. It'd be a shame to delete them into the nether regions of cyberspace so I decided to post them here instead. These are a few drawings that I did for David Noyes' Illustration class during my Graduate School tenure at the Tyler School of Art.

Wacom Cintiq 21ux: I WANT this bad!

For those of you who have simple Wacom tablets I realate to you. They are not aesthetically pleasing, but they serve their function. However, in order to reach the new digital art frontier,(not to mention justify shelling out for art school) we should indulge our artistic side once in a while by purchasing this amazing machine!

Shaking off the rust...

Being an art teacher definitely has its drawbacks. For example, focusing on your student's art severly puts a damper on your own work. Thus the creation of this blog. I will be trying to get back into "art shape" by working on my shortcomings (Which are plentiful let me tell you). My first "project is to get better at drawing heads. I've never been good at drawing them so its now time to step up so to speak. I've been influenced by many different instructors in my time, primarily those from the School of Visual Arts, Mike Mattesi, James McMullen, and John Ruggeri. Critiques are welcome but please be gentle ok? Images to follow VERY soon.

Carpe Diem!

My very first blog entry. I know. I'm a sheep. Here are a few drawings from a session at the Spring Studio (http://www.springstudiosoho.com/) yesterday. Picture quality can't be helped due to archaic digital camera.
